Who does the best job of being a giraffe? 🦒

A giraffe, of course! 😆

A giraffe will fail at being the best lion in the pride.

Similarly, be you… NO ONE can be YOU better than YOU.

I’ve found this approach invaluable in my own business. I can’t compete with the lions out there! By drawing on my unique blend of expertise and experiences in science, business, and art, I can create unique offerings and use my research and synthesis superpowers to work across different disciplines and domains to help clients overcome the challenges they face to innovating.

Similarly, when I work with innovation teams, we talk a lot about character strengths.

Whilst it might seem obvious that we need people who are high in creativity and curiosity, we also need people who are high in other strengths like perseverance, teamwork, honesty, bravery, and social intelligence. These other strengths are important to working well as a team and progressing the project.

So, when innovating, don’t assume you have diversity; the team needs to understand each member’s strengths so they can be best leveraged.

There is a tonne of research on the benefits of knowing and using one’s character strengths for health, well-being, and productivity.
